Cancelled due to Excessive Heat!

  • Cumberland Community Orchard Stiles Wy Cumberland, ME, 04021 United States (map)

Our trellising workshop is being cancelled due to excessive heat. Not going to be safe digging post holes and doing heavy labor in this heat. We’ll reschedule for another time later in the fall or next spring!

Creating Trellises for Berries and Grapes - We’ll be creating some trellises for cane fruits and grapes, that will also serve as a nice natural border and screen between the orchard and the brush dump pad. Learn how to build a simple and effective trellises with posts, gravel, and wire. You can help out from start to finish, from digging the post holes, backfilling with dirt/gravel, and running the wires. In the end we’ll have a space for future fruits to be planted, and you’ll have the expertise to build your own sturdy trellis at home!

Speaker: Jesse Lamarre-Vincent, Cumberland.

Lawns Gone Wild is a yearlong sustainable backyard education series and is offered in collaboration with Prince Memorial Library, the Town of Cumberland's Lands and Conservation Commission - Sustainability and Community Orchard Subcommittees, and Chebeague and Cumberland Land Trust.
